That's a great line! I might just steal that.
I'm the kind of guy who really cares about the aesthetics of my output.
I like things to be aligned and balanced and spaced just so, and I want
to make sure my recipients see things exactly the way I laid them out.
Because of that, I've actually jumped into LaTeX several times during my
career. Each time, I get to the point where I can produce relatively
sophisticated documents that look really good. The problem is that I
can't exchange my documents with anyone else in my business! They all
want Word docs. I can't afford to do things twice, so I put LaTeX down
for a while, and pretty soon all of that hard-earned knowledge just
seeps away.
And actually, I find that calling ReportLab from Python to create PDF
files directly is both flexible and rewarding, and EVERYONE can read a
PDF file.
